Welcome to algarve cycle routes
This beautiful area is largely undiscovered by Northern European cyclists. It is the ideal place for cyclists to leave the cold & enjoy some great cycling in this dry, sunny district of the Algarve.
SCENIC CYCLE ROUTES: from PORTIMAO & Praia da Rocha; mostly good surfaced, country roads with light traffic.
ALL CYCLISTS : This area has been selected to suit all kinds of cyclists; plus non-cycling family & friends. Those seek- ing winter sunshine, great scenery and quiet roads; visiting themany, small, coastal resorts, or typical country villages. An ideal area for riders who like to pedal easy, or the fitter cyclist going further. It will suit competitive riders looking for great routes & challenging climbs. Those who like walking will enjoy this area.
TWENTY ONE ROUTES: Three route cards available to the East, North & West with a total of 21different cycle routes. They cover different terrain:- flattish, undulating, or hilly and vary in length. A good map (the best we've found) is also included. Many of the best, well-surfaced country roads are unsigned, and a few are not on maps, so these route cards are very helpful. They are especially beneficial for cyclists, on shorter holidays, to enjoy the best routes without the frustration of sometimes getting lost, or missing some of the best country roads and scenery.
EXPERIENCED ORGANISER: The designer of these routes is Peter Ward. He is a former International racing cyclist & organised International and National events. For years he has organised touring rides, at UK & club level. Peter has been winter cycling in many warm countries but finds this area the best. The Ward's ‘break the back' of winter by spending 4 to 6 weeks here.
